Juan Brusard, native and resident of the parish of St. Martin of Atakapas, appeared before (Penalver) and stated that he wished to marry Gertrudis Tibaudau of the same nationality and faith. He asks that his testimony be heard on these points: He is the son of Pelagia Landry and Fran(cis)co Brusard, son of Jose Brusard and Ana Tibaudau, daughter of Juan Tibaudau, son of another Tibaudau whose name is not known and who died in Acadia. Gertrudis Tibaudau is the daughter of Gertrudis Burque and Amant Tibaudau, son of Carlos Tibaudau, son of the above mentioned Tibaudau whose name is not known. People of this parish are all related by blood or affinity and he would have to go outside of the parish to marry anyone without a dispensation; his fiancee's parents are very poor and have nine children and he has frequented her house for a long time with a view to marrying her.

Having examined the testimony, Penalver grants the dispensation under the following conditions: That they make a general confession and another one on the day of their marriage, that they fast for four Fridays before the marriage. Upon fulfillment of these conditions, word will be sent to the pastor of Atacapaz[s?] that he may marry them. Quintero certifies this decree and adds that he notified Brusard of the decree and that he sent word as ordered to the pastor of Atacapaz.
